Cancer Research Classic
WHEELING, W.Va., Jan. 6, 2018 -- Findlay Prep capped a perfect weekend in the Cancer Research Classic with a convincing 93-79 victory against IMG, which finished 1-1 for the event.
The game was originally billed as a chance to see a trio of 7-ft-3 players -- Bol Bol, Connor Vanover from Findlay and IMG's Chol Marial -- on the court at one time. That didn't pan out because Marial didn't play in either game because of a foot problem.
However, that didn't take away from the contest because it was up and down throughout. Featuring a lengthy list of impressive dunks and passes, Findlay Prep blew the game open in the fourth quarter.
Entering the final chapter, Findlay owned just a one-point lead. In the fourth, though, the Nevada-based squad outscored IMG, 25-12.
Fueling that was Bol. The son of the late Manute Bol, who played for many years in the NBA, he went for 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Bol -- unlike many 7-footers -- is a highly versatile player. He showed range and ability to put the ball on the floor during the course of both games.
Kyler Edwards was named the game's MVP after scoring 25 points, grabbing five rebounds and passing out five assists. The Texas Tech signee knocked down 9-of-15 shots from the floor and was four-of-seven from behind the arc.
Arkansas signee Reggie Chaney was also impressive with 17 points and five rebounds. IMG received 29 points from junior Jahmius Ramsey, who was 11-of-13 from the foul line. Darius Days, who is headed to LSU, poured in 23 points and finished the double-double with 10 reboun. Noah Farrakhan added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Both teams were exceptional shooting the ball. Findlay Prep made good on 36-of-63 action shots, while IMG knocked down 27-of-51 from the floor.
