WHEELING, W.Va., Jan. 6, 2018 -- When a team is knocking down shots from the perimeter, a talented team becomes even tougher to defend.
Webster Groves didn't need multiple players to fuel that ideal. Ray Adams was plenty effective by himself and it fueled by a 75-62 victory.
Quite simply, Adams was on fire during the second game of Day 2's schedule against Wheeler, Ga. En route to earning the game MVP award, Adams knocked down seven bonus goals. He hit those from a myriad of spots, too. Many of them were also challenged and coming off screens.
All told, Adams missed on only two triples and finished with 23 points.
St. Louis signee Carte'Are Gordon -- who is the highest ranked player to ever sign with the Billiken program -- finished with 17 points in top support.
On any other day, the effort that uncommitted senior EJ Montgomery put forth would have certainly been worthy of game MVP accolades. He scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The big difference in the game came in the middle two quarters. Webster Groves took over, outscoring Wheeler, 45-30, in those quarters.
