Montverde Academy def. Archbishop Wood Catholic High School, 89-45

WHEELING, W.Va., Jan. 5, 2018 -- Archbishop Wood is one of the premier prep basketball programs in the state of Pennsylvania.

Montverde Academy is the best prep teams in the United States.

Add those up and the end result is a total mismatch and an 89-45 victory for the Eagles, who are ranked No. 1 in the country.

Montverde, featuring a starting lineup of five high major signees, blew the game open in the second quarter when it outscored Wood, 28-7. It didn't slow down there either. Montverde won the third quarter, 24-11.

Montverde was led by RJ Barrett, who earned the game's MVP honor. He was as impressive as you'd expect from future Duke Blue Devil. He scored 33 points, including a sharp 13-of-15 effort from the field. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out six assists.

Michael Devoe scored 13 points and had six assists, while Makhi Mitchell and Andrew Nembhard each had 12. Nembhard added eight assists.

Wood was led by Andrew Funk's 16 points.

Montverde shot a robust 61 percent from the field, while Wood knocked home just 32.6 percent of its shots.
