WHEELING, W.Va., Jan. 7, 2017 -- The event closed with local favorite Wheeling Park facing a very good Pine-Richland squad out of Gibsonia, PA. The Park came into the contest as a young and struggling club, while the Rams continued to play like the 2016 WPIAL Champions.

Park scored the first bucket of the game, but Pine Richland’s talented senior guard Andrew Petcash responded with a conventional three-point play and things proceeded to take a turn for the worst for the Patriots.

The Rams took a commanding 46-24 lead into half and never looked back en route to an (86-39) triumph of youthful Wheeling Park.

Pine-Richland kept the pedal to the metal in the 3rd quarter out scoring Michael Jebbia’s club 26-6 in the stanza.

The Rams got a game-high 20 points from Petcash and junior Phil Jurkovec, a Notre Dame football commit, produced 16 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Sean Colosimo added 14 points and 6-foot-6 sophomore Andrew Krisofic notched 10 points and nine rebounds

Sophomore Jack Stakem led Wheeling Park with 14 points and seven rebounds, and classmate Keondre’ King reached double figures as well with 10 points.

Pine-Richland held Wheeling Park to just 24 percent shooting for the game and 0-of-13 from the three-point range. The Rams also enjoyed a decisive edge on the boards at 50-30.

Stat of the Game:
Pine-Richland out goaled Wheeling Park, 35-12.
