WHEELING, W.Va., Jan. 7, 2012 -- In a game that lacked any kind of real flow, DeMatha was able to remain unbeaten thanks to a 60.5 percent showing from the field including 13-of-20 in the second half to secure a 62-47 triumph.

The Stags (12-0) jumped out to a 16-5 lead as 6-9 junior BeeJay Anya was able to score at will in the paint. Anya scored seven points in the opening quarter converting all three shot attempts.

Meanwhile, the Saints struggled to find the range shooting just 2-of-15 in the opening quarter en route to a 32 percent showing for the game. The first quarter doomed N-G. The remainder of the contest was a five-point game.

Neumann-Goretti was able to keep the margin at eleven points (31-20) by halftime as Rider commit Derrick Stewart, sophomore Ja'Quan Newton, and La'Quan Coaxum scored all of the Saints' points.

Guard Jairus Lyles enjoyed a solid third quarter for the Stags scoring seven points and Syracuse-bound Jerami Grant notched five points in the stanza.

Junior John Davis was finally able to get going in the second half after not making a single field goal in the first 16 minutes. Davis scored nine points in the second half after being blanked in the first.

DeMatha won the third period 12-11 and held a 19-16 advantage in the final frame.

Anya (MVP) finished with 17 points and seven rebounds and Lyles also tallied 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Anya was 7-of-11 from the field.
